Phulbani, Jan 14: In a major breakthrough, Phiringia police have seized 75 kilograms of ganja being transported in two cars and arrested four people involved in the operation. The gang was active in the Phiringia police station area, where ganja trafficking has been a persistent problem.

Acting on a tip-off from a special source, a team led by SI Ajay Kumar Sahu intercepted the vehicles near the Kalia Sahi petrol pump on the Phulbani-Baliguda main road. A thorough search of the cars led to the recovery of the contraband, which was later weighed in the presence of a magistrate.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Pinku Digal, Chintu Digal, and Sananda Digal from Bakapali village under Bandhgarh panchayat, and Ashish Digal from Balipada village under Gochhapada police station. Police said that in recent months, ganja traffickers had been challenging law enforcement and moving large consignments to other districts.

This operation follows the Firingia police’s Neel Jahar campaign, during which they destroyed ganja plantations worth crores of rupees, showcasing their commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the region.
