Swiggy Report Unveils How Millions Ordered Food Throughout Last Year

India simply cannot get enough of its favorite rice dish. According to the latest "How India Swiggy’d" report for 2025, India Biryani Orders 2025 reached a staggering 93 million. This marks a significant jump from the 83 million orders recorded in 2024, proving that the nation's love for this aromatic delicacy is only growing stronger. To put this in perspective, Indians ordered roughly 194 biryanis every single minute, which breaks down to about 3.25 plates every second.

Chicken Biryani remains the undisputed champion of the dinner table, accounting for 57.7 million of those orders. While Biryani took the crown, other favorites like burgers and pizzas weren't far behind, with 44.2 million and 40.1 million orders respectively. Even the simple vegetarian dosa held its own, with 26.2 million orders highlighting a continued preference for classic South Indian flavors.

The Golden Hours of Snacking

The report identifies the window between 3 PM and 7 PM as the peak "snacking mood" for the country. During these hours, the classic combination of Popular Indian Snacks 2025 took center stage. Samosas led the pack with 3.42 million orders, perfectly paired with 2.9 million orders of ginger tea (adrak chai). Interestingly, chicken rolls saw a massive spike in popularity, jumping from 2.48 million orders in the previous year to 4.1 million in 2025.

Morning Cravings and Global Tastes

Breakfast trends showed a clear winner: the humble idli. With 11 million deliveries, it topped the morning charts, followed closely by veg dosas at 9.6 million. However, Indian palates are also becoming more adventurous. While Mexican and Tibetan cuisines saw millions of orders, "Matcha" became the most searched global food term. On the flip side, there is a rising interest in hyperlocal flavors. Orders for Pahadi cuisine grew ninefold, while Rajasthani and Malvani dishes nearly doubled in demand.

Late-Night Habits and Festive Feasts

Ordering food is no longer just about lunch or dinner. Late-night binging between midnight and 2 AM has become a mainstream habit. While Biryani is a top choice at night, chicken burgers actually took the #1 spot for midnight cravings with 2.3 million orders.

Festivals also played a huge role in the 2025 delivery data. During Ganesh Chaturthi, over 228,000 modaks were delivered. Diwali week saw a massive 1.7 million kilograms of sweets and dry fruits being ordered across the country. Even during Navratri, tens of thousands of people turned to the app for sabudana khichdi and fasting thalis.

Record-Breaking Individuals

Some users took food delivery to the extreme. A single user in Mumbai placed 3,196 orders throughout the year—averaging about nine orders every single day! Meanwhile, a customer in Hyderabad spent over Rs. 47,000 in one go just to buy 65 boxes of dry fruit cookies.

Whether it is a quick office snack or a massive festive feast, the Online Food Delivery Trends of 2025 show that food is now an instinctive part of the Indian lifestyle. From the streets of Bhubaneswar to the bustling hubs of Bengaluru, the country is eating more diversely and more frequently than ever before.
