Cuttack, Jul 20: A tree plantation drive titled ‘One Tree for Mother’ was organised at Brahmanabada village under Ayatpur Gram Panchayat in Cuttack Sadar block of Cuttack district. The programme was conducted under the guidance of former Odisha BJP Kisan Morcha Vice-President Hrushikesh Jena and organised by Bishnupriya Seva Samiti.

Chief guest Surendranath Panda, Chairman of Bharat Masala Group, and special guest Bhagylaxmi Rout, Chairperson of Cuttack Sadar Block, participated in the event and planted more than 200 fruit-bearing saplings on over 1.5 acres of land.

Highlighting the importance of trees and environmental conservation, the organisers said that more than 300 additional fruit-bearing saplings will be planted in the coming days. The responsibility of protecting and maintaining the plantation will be taken up jointly by Bishnupriya Seva Samiti and local villagers.

During the programme, the guests encouraged people to plant at least one tree on their own land and contribute towards environmental protection.

Several local representatives, including Cuttack district BJP Kisan Morcha Secretary Nirmal Das, along with panchayat representatives from Kandarpur zone, youths and intellectuals, attended the plantation drive.
