Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: A groom and his wedding party faced an unexpected delay during the ongoing Bharat Bandh on Thursday, causing a tense situation in Jayadev Vihar.

Abdul Faheem Khan, who was traveling from Balasore to Khordha for his wedding, was stopped by protesters at Jayadev Vihar square. The confrontation led to temporary chaos, but after some time, the protesters allowed the group to proceed. The groom later stated that he was unaware of the bandh and that they were simply on their way to Khordha for the wedding.

The bandh, observed across the state—including Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Baleshwar, Rourkela, Brahmapur, and Sambalpur—caused disruption in several areas. Protesters blocked National Highway 16, leading to traffic congestion and delays. In Bhubaneswar, Jayadev Vihar witnessed significant unrest for a few hours before the situation was brought under control.
