Bhubaneswar, Sept 13: Around 1.30 lakh primary teachers have decided to go on leave en masse from today.
The teachers of primary schools are scheduled to stage dharna in front of block and district education offices to press for their three-point charter of demands. Their demands include the like regularisation of their jobs, hike in grade pay and implementation of central pay scale and return to the old pension scheme.
Almost all primary teachers from various cadres have joined the protest due to the government’s lack of response to their demands
Worth mentioning, a similar protest was staged in November 2022, during which the state government promised to address their concerns. An inter-ministerial committee was even established for this purpose, and it convened a meeting on Teacher’s Day this year. However, no decisions were reached.
