Cuttack, June 17: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday halted the Assistant Professor Recruitment process citing an irregularity in the selection.
A bench of the Orissa High Court, hearing on an aspirant’s pleas, issued show cause notice to the Acharya Harihar Post Graduate Institute of Cancer (AHPGIC) authorities.
In the directives, the bench issued a stay on the final selection of candidates until further orders.
The decision came in response to a petition that challenged the recruitment drive following an advertisement published on May 28, 2025, by the director of AHPGIC.
The petition alleged that the selection process vehemently violated the Odisha Medical Education Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2021, as well as the institute’s own bylaws, by making provisional selection lists with no written tests.
Justice Aditya Kumar Mohapatra who headed the bench issued directions to the Director & Dean, AHPGIC to submit reply affidavits within two weeks.
Besides, the High Court bench also allowed two-week time for the petitioners to file rejoinders.
The matter was then scheduled for a detailed hearing on August 4.
