Cuttack, Oct 13: Insensitive behaviour of police personnel is not at all acceptable, the Orissa High Court has said.

"Insensitive behaviour on the part of police personnel is not at all acceptable, especially when a minor girl is suspected to have been kidnapped", the division bench of Justice Sangram Kumar Sahoo and Justice Chittaranjan Dash observed.

The bench was hearing a petition filed by the parents of a minor girl, who was allegedly kidnapped and the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Phulbani Town police station misbehaved the couple – Jagannath Panda and Pushpanjali Panda - when they lodged a complaint.

The court has directed the IIC to appear before it on November 6 with up-to-date case diary regarding initiatives taken in the kidnap case.

According to the petition, the couple had approached the High Court after kidnapping of their daughter. The court had asked the IIC of Phulbani Town police station to submit status report.

The police informed the court that the parents of the girl did not disclose anything in their statement under Section 161 of the Cr.P.C. The report also informed the court that their house was found locked and mobile phones were switched off.

However, the petitioner informed the court that the IIC misbehaved with them when they approached the police with a request to trace out their daughter.
