New Delhi, April 24: In a strong display of unity, opposition parties on Thursday unequivocally condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, during an all-party meeting convened by the central government.

Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, affirmed that all political parties pledged their full support to the government in any actions deemed necessary in response to the attack.

“Everyone condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack,” Gandhi stated after the meeting. “The opposition has given full support to the government in taking any action.”

Gandhi is scheduled to visit Srinagar on Friday in the wake of the tragic incident.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh raised serious concerns over the security lapse that led to the attack.

“The entire nation is angry and grieving,” Singh said. “The country expects a strong response from the central government. Terrorist camps must be destroyed, and action should be taken against Pakistan. The attack occurred on April 22, yet the area was opened to the public without informing security agencies on April 20. We demand accountability for this security failure.”

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay echoed similar sentiments, emphasizing that national security took precedence over politics. “Security lapses were discussed in the meeting. We assured the government of our complete support for any decision taken in the interest of the nation,” he said.

The all-party meeting, organized to deliberate on the security situation following the Pahalgam attack, saw the participation of key political leaders from across the spectrum.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Union Minister and BJP National President JP Nadda were present. Other prominent attendees included Congress President and Rajya Sabha Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and representatives from various parties including Ram Gopal Yadav (SP), Supriya Sule (NCP-SP), Shrikant Shinde (NCP), Praful Patel (NCP), Prem Chand Gupta (RJD), Tiruchi Siva (DMK), Sasmit Patra (BJD), Mithun Reddy (YSRC), Anil Baluni (BJP), Sanjay Singh (AAP), Sudip Bandyopadhyay (TMC), and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.

The unified stance from across the political spectrum signals a collective commitment to addressing terrorism and ensuring national security.
