Two football legends achieved perfection without winning top honours
Football history celebrates many great goalscorers, but only two men have ever found the net in every single match of a victorious World Cup campaign. Jairzinho of Brazil and Alcides Ghiggia of Uruguay stand entirely alone in achieving this remarkable feat.

While global football fans often obsess over modern superstars, these historic flawless runs from 1950 and 1970 remain unmatched even by today's most expensive forwards.
Jairzinho earned his famous nickname by dominating the 1970 tournament in Mexico. Brazil played six games to win the title, and the fierce winger scored in every single match. He secured two goals against Czechoslovakia in the opening game. Following that, he added one goal in each of his five other appearances, finishing the famous campaign with seven total goals.
Ghiggia accomplished the exact same milestone twenty years earlier. Uruguay only played four matches during the 1950 tournament because several nations withdrew from the competition. Ghiggia remained perfectly efficient, scoring exactly one goal in each fixture. His final strike was the legendary winner that silenced a packed stadium and stunned Brazil on their home soil.
Perfection on the pitch did not actually translate to individual hardware for either talented forward. Neither player claimed the coveted Golden Boot for their flawless tournament performances. Brazilian striker Ademir easily outscored Ghiggia in 1950 by netting eight goals. Two decades later, West German star Gerd Müller won the 1970 award by scoring ten times, leaving Jairzinho in second place.
Both men proved that winning matches matters much more than winning individual trophies. They delivered crucial goals exactly when their respective nations needed them. Their unmatched consistency ultimately delivered team glory.
