Koraput, Dec 11: Odisha is grappling with an intense cold wave, with temperatures plunging to record lows across the state. Semiliguda recorded the lowest temperature this winter at 3.5°C, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

G Udayagiri also experienced a chilly night, with the mercury dropping to 4°C, marking the coldest night in the region this season. In total, 16 cities in Odisha have reported temperatures at or below 10°C.

Other areas have not been spared the cold spell. Phulbani recorded 5.2°C, Chipilima 6.1°C, Rourkela 6.6°C, and Jharsuguda 6.8°C. Daringbadi registered 7°C, while Bhawanipatna, Angul, and Kirei recorded temperatures of 8°C, 8°C, and 8.1°C, respectively.

Several other towns also faced biting cold, including Nabarangapur (8.6°C), Koraput (9.3°C), Balangir (9.3°C), Keonjhar (9.6°C), Sundargarh (9.6°C), and Sonepur (10°C).

The IMD has advised residents to take precautionary measures, particularly in colder districts, as the cold wave is expected to persist over the coming days.
