
Srinagar, Sept 8: At least one terrorist was killed and one soldier was injured in an ongoing gunfight, which started on Monday, in Gudar forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s (J&K) Kulgam district.
The injured soldier has been transferred to the hospital, and reinforcements have been dispatched to the cordoned-off area.
According to officials, joint teams of the security forces launched a CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) in Gudar forest area following tip-off regarding the presence of terrorists.
As the joint forces zeroed-in on the spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire, which was retaliated triggering an encounter. According to the latest reports, the encounter is still ongoing in the area.

It is worth noting that the joint forces have launched aggressive anti-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, targeting not only terrorists but also their overground workers (OGWs) and sympathizers.
Security forces believe that to effectively dismantle the terror ecosystem in the Union Territory, the focus must extend beyond eliminating armed terrorists to also addressing those who support and sustain terrorism.
