Srinagar, May 15: In an ongoing operation, security forces gunned down one terrorist in Nader village of Tral tehsil in Awantipora sub-division of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“On 15 May 2025, based on specific Intelligence input from Int agency, a Cordon & Search Operation was launched by Indian Army, J&K Police and Srinagar Sector CRPF at Nader, Tral, Awantipora. Suspicious activity was observed by vigilant troops and on being challenged, terrorists opened heavy fire and fierce gunfight ensued. Operation is in progress,” said Srinagar headquartered 15 Corps of the Army on ‘X’.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists, security forces cordoned off the Nader village and carried out extensive search operation. As the forces zeroed-in on the spot, hiding militants opened fire prompting a decisive retaliation from the troops. It led to the encounter which is currently underway.
It is worth mentioning that this is the second clash between security forces and terrorists this week. On May 13, security forces neutralized three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists in a gunfight in Shopian district. One of them was Shahid Kuttay, the group's operational chief.
On May 10, the day India and Pakistan announced an agreement that took effect at 5 p.m., terrorists opened fire at the sentry post outside the White Knight Corps headquarters in Nagrota, Jammu district—just about two hours after the ceasefire began.
India has clearly stated that any terrorist attack inside the country will be considered an act of war.
