Bhubaneswar, February 11: Under White Revolution 2.0, Odisha has been assigned a target for the establishment of 8,547 new dairy cooperative societies and the strengthening of 1,140 existing dairy cooperative societies during the period 2024–25 to 2028–29, with financial support provided under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) scheme of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), the Rajya Sabha was informed on Wednesday.

In a written reply in the Upper House, Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said informed the House that total 494 new dairy cooperatives have been established in Odisha as of 13th January 2026 and 466 existing dairy cooperatives have been strengthened as of 30th September 2025.

The Union Minister informed that under “Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in dairy activities (SDC&FPO)” scheme, interest subvention of Rs 0.29 Crore released to Odisha Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) during FY 2023-24 in the state of Odisha.

Till date no proposals have been received for availing benefits under Dairy Processing Infrastructure Development Fund / Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund from the eligible entities/dairy cooperatives from the State of Odisha, the Union Minister told the Upper House.

He also informed that in Odisha, milk payments for 80% of the milk producers are being paid directly into their individual bank accounts by Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers' Federation Limited (OMFED) and its affiliated Milk Union. Total milk bill paid by OMFED to the producer members associated with its DCS in December 2025 was Rs 57.07 crore.
