Koraput, Nov 28: Nandapur police in Odisha’s Koraput district seized ganja having an estimated market value of over Rs 13 lakh and arrested one person in this connection.
The accused has been identified as Dharmendra Khadara, a resident of K.Singhpur in Rayagada district.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the smuggling of ganja, a team of Nandapur police intercepted a tractor near Dakabangala square and conducted a search.
During the search, police recovered around 128 kilograms of ganja hidden in a special compartment in the tractor and seized it. Thereafter, the driver was arrested as he could not produce a valid authority in support of the possession of such contraband.
The accused is being questioned and a probe has been launched to ascertain other details, said the police.
