Bhubaneswar, December 7:Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday praised Dr. K. Lakshmi Bai for her remarkable donation of Rs. 3.4 crore from personal savings to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. The funds will be used to establish a Gynaecological Oncology course, a gift from the retired gynaecologist's personal savings.

In a post on social media platform X, CM Majhi described Dr. Lakshmi Bai as "a beacon of compassion and public service," praising her lifelong commitment to women's health and empowerment. “Dr. Lakshmi Bai exemplifies dignity, care, and the empowerment of women. Her decades of dedicated medical service continue to inspire future generations. People like her fortify our collective commitment to building a healthier, more empowered society,” he wrote.

The Chief Minister further expressed, “Our government remains steadfast in its efforts to enhance quality healthcare for all. Odisha takes immense pride in Dr. Lakshmi Bai’s extraordinary contributions to humanity. May Mahaprabhu Jagannath bless her with continued good health, strength, and peace.”

In addition to her donation to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Dr. Lakshmi Bai also contributed Rs. 3 lakh to the Berhampur Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society. The funds will support adolescent vaccination programs aimed at preventing cancer among women.

Reflecting on her extensive medical career, Dr. Lakshmi Bai shared her personal motivations behind the donation. “Throughout my career, I treated numerous women suffering from cancer, many of whom lost their lives due to the lack of proper treatment. I hope that this contribution helps poor and vulnerable women who need medical support,” she said.
