​​​​​​​Cuttack, Oct 24: The body of a woman who had gone missing after reportedly jumping into the Mahanadi River from Jobra Bridge in Odisha’s Cuttack was recovered on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Shivani Mallik, daughter of Kulmani Mallik from Andeisahi village under Jagatpur police limits.

As per reports, Shivani had gone missing after leaving her scooter on Jobra Bridge and jumping into the Mahanadi River on Thursday. Some locals spotted her body floating in the Chitrotpala River near Harichandanpur barrage in Salepur block and alerted the police.

Upon getting the information, Salepur police arrived at the scene and fished out the body. Later, it was handed over to Jagatpur police after identification.

Further investigation into the matter is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to her tragic death, said the police.
