Agastya Nanda Pays Emotional Tribute to Late Legend Dharmendra at 'Ikkis' Song Unveiling

The atmosphere turned poignant in Mumbai this Wednesday as the team behind the highly anticipated military drama, Ikkis, gathered to release their first musical number. While the event was meant to celebrate the launch of the track 'Sitaare,' the spotlight naturally shifted to a heartfelt tribute to the late cinema icon, Dharmendra.

Leading actor Agastya Nanda, who headlines the film, struggled to hold back tears while speaking about his experience sharing the frame with the legendary actor. The source material notes that the veteran star passed away recently on November 24, just shy of his 90th birthday, making Ikkis his final appearance on the silver screen.

A Generational Bond

During the media interaction, Agastya opened up about the unique connection his family shares with the late icon. He described the collaboration not just as a professional milestone, but as a deeply personal privilege.

"You know for me it's very emotional because Dharam ji worked with all generations of my family," Agastya shared, his voice heavy with emotion. He reflected on the cinematic history Dharmendra shared with his grandfather and great-grandfather, noting how surreal it felt to be the third generation to act alongside him.

Expressing his grief, Agastya added, "As sir said, it's an honour, a huge privilege and I am extremely sad that he couldn't see the love he deserves. It is emotional for all of us."

The Melody of 'Sitaare'

Amidst the emotional recollections, the film's first song, 'Sitaare,' was introduced to the audience. Crooned by the soulful Arijit Singh, the track promises to be a romantic ballad that highlights the on-screen chemistry between Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia.

About the Film

Helmed by the acclaimed director Sriram Raghavan, Ikkis is shaping up to be a gripping war biopic. The narrative chronicles the brave life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the youngest soldier to ever receive the Param Vir Chakra for his supreme sacrifice.

Fans are eagerly awaiting the release, scheduled for Christmas Day, December 25. Aside from marking Dharmendra’s farewell performance, the movie boasts a stellar ensemble cast including Jaideep Ahlawat, Suhasini Mulay, Sikander Kher, and Rahul Dev.
