Young math prodigies showcased lightning speed at ODM Global.
Bhubaneswar turned into a global hub for mental arithmetic as ODM Global School hosted the Royal Abacus International Crown on April 26, 2026. This high-stakes event gathered 330 students on-site, while international competitors from the USA, Japan, Germany, England, and Kuwait participated via digital platforms. These young learners demonstrated exceptional speed and analytical precision, proving that traditional abacus methods remain a vital tool for cognitive development in a digital age.
Blessed Abacus Academy, Amethyst Abacus and Vedic Academy, and Brain Master Educational and Cultural Trust pooled their resources to organize this massive gathering. Leaders including Ms. Mehak Kalwani, Mr. Ashwini Kalwani, Mrs. Sandhya Rani Sahoo, and Mrs. Lilabati Mishra managed the logistics of both physical and virtual participation. Such events reflect Odisha’s growing reputation as a national education capital, following the state's recent initiatives to modernize school infrastructure and STEM learning.
Prof. Prafulla Kumar Mohanty, former Vice Chancellor of Khallikote Unitary University, inaugurated the session by releasing the official question booklets. During his address, he highlighted how nurturing mathematical talent early prepares students for complex problem-solving in future careers. His words resonated with the participants who spent the day tackling rigorous mental challenges.
Dr. Debi Prasad Das from CSIR-IMMT and Principal Mr. Subrat Sarangi joined the closing ceremony to honor the top performers. Winners received the World Cup Trophy and cash rewards based on their merit. This recognition serves to motivate students to maintain their focus on academic mastery. By hosting this international contest, the school reaffirmed its role in providing students with a global stage to test their skills against peers from diverse backgrounds.
