New Delhi, Jan 26: A tableau from Odisha, selected by the Central government, graced the Kartavya Path during the Republic Day Parade in the national capital today. This tableau, centered around the theme 'Women Empowerment in Viksit Bharat,' showcased the Pattachitra heritage craft from Raghurajpur village. After a hiatus of three years, Odisha's tableau rejoined the parade on the 75th Republic Day.
The event featured tableaux from 16 States and Union Territories, each presenting diverse themes that highlighted India's rich cultural heritage and creativity. Alongside Odisha, the participating states and UTs included Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Ladakh (UT), Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh.
The Ministry of Defence had shortlisted tableau proposals from a total of 15 states and one union territory for the Republic Day Parade 2024, contributing to the grand display of India's cultural diversity and national pride.
