Similipal Tiger Reserve to Get National Park Status Soon

Mayurbhanj, Mar 26: Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) in Mayurbhanj is set to get a National Park status. At the moment, Bhitarkanika is the sole national park in the state. In addition to strengthening the conservation efforts, this declaration of Similipal will boost ecotourism and save the biodiversity of the area.

Mayurbhanj’s Similipal is the largest tiger habitat in Odisha, spreaded over 2,750 square kilometers in size and is home to a wide range of plant and animal species, including the endangered melanistic tiger.

The projected improvement is anticipated to increase financing for animal preservation and implement more stringent conservation measures.

This action demonstrates Odisha's dedication to protecting its wildlife and natural environment, positioning Similipal as one of India’s leading protected areas. Nature lovers and conservationists are eagerly awaiting this development.
