Bhubaneswar, Aug 31: Under the new excise policy in Odisha, musical performances and orchestras will be permitted in licensed liquor shops, according to an official release. However, dance performances will remain prohibited at these establishments.
Starting September 1, the updated excise policy specifies that while dance performances will not be allowed in any 'ON' shop premises, musical performances or orchestras can be conducted with the appropriate permissions as outlined in the Odisha Excise Rules, 2017. The revised excise policy, which includes changes to the excise fee, duty, margin structure, and regulatory guidelines, will take effect from this date.
According to the new policy, no new IMFL OFF shop / CL shop / OS shop will be opened in the current financial year.
Besides, no new ON shops shall be allowed by the department in the rural suburbs exempting 3-star and above category hotels in rural areas. Apart from it, at least 57 ON Shops which have not yet renewed their license yet will not be renewed in this financial year.
Similarly, the MGQ factor, which is usually increased every year, will not be increased this year.
