Cuttack, Aug 9: In a heart-wrenching incident, a youth on his way home to celebrate Raksha Bandhan was crushed to death by a stone-laden truck in the Athagarh area of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Narayan Sahu, hailing from Balimi area in Dhenkanal district.
As per reports, the mishap occurred in Bentapada panchayat under Athagarh police limits when Rajendra was on his way home to celebrate Rakhi with his family. A speeding truck ran over him, leading to his death on the spot.
The incident sparked tension in the area, with locals expressing outrage over the fatal accident.
Upon getting the information, Athagarh police arrived at the scene and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the agitated crowd nabbed the truck driver and handed him over to the police.
Further investigation into the matter is underway.
