Rangeilunda, Sept 7: A youth from Odisha's Ganjam district has been held captive in Cambodia by the employment agency agent he was hired to work as a computer operator in Vietnam.

The victim, Dinabandhu Sahu of Biswanathpur under Rangeilunda block, had given Rs 1.5 lakh to a Gujarat-based company's agent for a job abroad.

The company sent him to Vietnam and later he was made to work in a company in Cambodia where he was allegedly forced to work in a SIM card and OTP-based cyber fraud syndicate.

However, Sahu refused to do the illegal job and asked to send him back to India following which the company agent locked him inside a room and demanded 1500 USD for his release.

Sahu has appealed to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister of Odisha, Union Home Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister, and Union Education Minister to help in his release through a video message.

In the video, he accused Manish Singh, MD, Unique Employment Service of Gujarat, and company agent Krishna Pathak of duping him on the pretext of high paid job abroad.
