Balasore, June 25: In a heart-breaking incident, a youth died in a road accident just two days before his wedding in Nilagiri area of Odisha’s Balasore district.
The deceased youth has been identified as Harekrushna Mahalik, a resident of Gobara village. On the other hand, his nephew Jyotish Mahalik is in critical condition and fighting for his life.
As per reports, the mishap took place near Baligohiri Square on State Highway No. 19 at around 4 AM today when Harekrushna and Jyotish were heading to Balasore station to pick up a friend for a wedding. Jyotish, who is in critical condition, has been shifted to Cuttack for treatment.
Following the mishap, tension prevailed in the area with irate locals blocking the road near Baligohiri Chhack and demanding compensation for the family of the deceased
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and pacified the agitators. The cops also seized the deceased’s body and sent it for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
