Sambalpur, December 26: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday distributed work orders to as many as 855 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) residing in Sambalpur Municipal Corporation area.

Union Minister Pradhan, who represented the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, also laid foundation stones for 30 developmental projects worth Rs 12.63 crore in Sambalpur in a programme organised by the Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said the work orders for constriction of pucca houses to 855 beneficiaries will help poor families residing in urban area live a safe and dignified life.

“Today, work orders for the construction of pucca houses to 855 beneficiaries for the financial year 2025-26 have been provided. The This step will help poor families live a safe and dignified life. The Central and State Governments are committed to providing pucca houses to all the urban and rural households living in Kutcha houses,” said Pradhan.

Pradhan said, “The prime objective of the double-engine Government is to ensure that benefits of the Government schemes reach the last person in the line. Today, under the PM SVANidhi scheme, street vendors and small business owners will receive loan assistance of up to Rs 50,000 without collateral while financial assistance is being given to beneficiaries under the Madhu Babu Pension scheme.

“Today, foundation stones have been laid for 30 different developmental projects at a cost of 12.63 crore. This will further brighten the future of Sambalpur. The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation is continuously working to beautify the city, ensure cleanliness, and enhance civic amenities. Facilities like providing potable drinking water supply to improved drainage systems, roads, bridges, railways, and ancillary infrastructure are being strengthened in Sambalpur district, particularly in Sambalpur town,” said Pradhan

He urged all stakeholders to work unitedly to make Sambalpur a clean and beautiful city.
