Jajpur, March 14: A 29-year-old youth was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly sending obscene pictures to his ex-girlfriend’s husband in Bada Baruneipada Nuagaon area in Jajpur district, police said.
The accused Amit Kumar Das of Pahanga village in the district was sent to judicial custody yesterday after his bail plea was rejected by a local court, Panikoili police said.
According to police, Amit and the victim girl of his village were in a relationship for three years. Amit had allegedly captured some of their intimate moments of their romantic life in his mobile phone. Later, the girl’s family reportedly did not accept their relation and she married another person in 2022.
But Amit allegedly wanted to continue their love relationship after her marriage. When the 25-year-old woman did not accept his advances, he started sending her photographs to her husband following which the girl’s marital life got disturbed. She then lodged a complaint at Panikoili police station against Amit last month.
Police registered a case under the relevant sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Information Technology (IT) Act following the girl’s complaint. However, the accused fled the village soon after he got to know about the police complaint.
As the accused was on the run, we started tracking his mobile phone and located him in Padur area in Chennai last week. A team went to Chennai and nabbed him from Padur with the help of local police. He was brought to Panikoili police station on Tuesday and arrested him after completion of due formalities, said investigating officer of Panikoili police station, Biswaranjan Das.
