Nuapada, Sept 1: In a gruesome incident, a man allegedly hacked his wife to death in inebriated condition in Dharambandha area of Odisha’s Nuapada district.

The deceased woman has been identified as Tirat Kamara and the incident has been reported from Khutmanbhera village under Dharambandha police limits.

As per reports, the accused, identified as Santosh Kumar, returned drunk and attacked Tirat with an axe. She sustained grievous injuries in the attack and died on the spot. The accused tried to flee from the spot after committing the crime, when local villagers overpowered him and alerted the police.

Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.

The cops also arrested Santosh for questioning in connection with the murder.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
