Jeypore, Nov 1: BJD leader Rabi Narayan Nanda was defeated by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati two times in Jeypore. Now the party is mulling to change its candidate in the constituency who can give tough contest to Bahinipati in his home turf.
On other hand, Nanda is busy in strengthening BJD organization in the seat aiming party ticket for his wife Dr Indira Nanda.
Ahead of the 2024 election, district party observer Captain Dibyashankar Mishra and organizational Secretary Prnab Prakash Das are frequently visiting the constituency to know the mood of voters and party workers to select a winnable candidate.
Both have instructed party aspirants to work for BJD as the vote goes to Naveen Patnaik. "Whosoever may get ticket, it is the responsibility of all to make him win, otherwise disciplinary action will be taken, " Das has told during discussion with workers. The leaders clearly stated that the party may field any winnable candidate.
On the other hand, Nanda couple is busy in organization work in hope of woman candidature from the seat as BJD is planning to reserve more seats for women this time.
Similarly, Ishwar Panigrahy is interested to contest from Jeypore after quitting Koraput district BJD president post.
Other two aspirants are businessman Subash Rout and veteran BJD leader Bala Ray, who is appointed observer of Pottangi constituency and also very close to Pranab Das.
