Bhubaneswar, June 30: In a fresh crackdown on alleged disproportionate assets (DA), Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday carried out simultaneous raids at five locations linked to Aswini Meher, Steward in the Office of the Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla.
The searches were launched following allegations that Meher had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. Acting on search warrants issued by the Special Vigilance Judge, Sambalpur, multiple Vigilance teams conducted the raids.
The operation is being led by five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), five Inspectors, three Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other supporting staff.
The searches are being conducted at the following locations:
Government residential quarter at Medical Staff Colony, VIMSAR, Burla, Sambalpur.
An under-construction four-storeyed building at Saurav Vihar, Burla.
A building at Pathanbandh, Burla.
A building at Govindpalli in Bargarh district.
Office chamber of Aswini Meher at the Superintendent's Office, VIMSAR, Burla.
Search operations were underway at all the locations till the filing of this report. Details regarding the assets unearthed and other findings are awaited.
Notably, this is the second major disproportionate assets raid conducted by Odisha Vigilance in Sambalpur district on Tuesday. Earlier in the day, the anti-corruption agency searched four properties linked to Dhanurdhar Biswal, Establishment Officer-cum-Office Superintendent at VIMSAR, Burla, in connection with a separate DA case.
