Kendrapada, May 15: Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday apprehended an Amin of office of the Tahasildar of Mahakalapada Tahasil in Odisha’s Kendrapada district for allegedly taking bribe from a complainant.
The accused has been identified as Umakanta Behera. Behera was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe amount of Rs 2000 to release the detailed report after demarcation of land of the complainant completed by him a month back.
For last one month, complainant had been requesting Behera to release the demarcation report of his land. But, Behera was demanding bribe Rs 2,000 to release the said report. Complainant being a poor man was not able to pay the demanded bribe. Hence, finding no other means, complainant alleged before Vigilance Authority about his problem over toll-free number of Odisha Vigilance.
Accordingly, Vigilance officials nabbed Behera while accepting the demanded bribe money from complainant. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Behera from DA angle.
