Bhadrak, May 15: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Junior Engineer (JE) of the Command Area Development (CAD) Division, after he was found in possession of disproportionate assets (DA), officials said on Friday. He will be produced today before the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore.

During a search operation conducted at four locations linked to Mohanty, the anti-corruption agency discovered that he owns two multi-storeyed buildings, seven valuable plots, cash of Rs 1.73 lakh, 350 grams of gold, and deposits worth Rs 19.46 lakh, among other assets, which he failed to explain satisfactorily.

The JE reportedly possesses residential properties in Bharak and Balasore, a plot in Bhubaneswar, two plots in Bharak, and three in Balasore’s Basta area. He is also the owner of three two-wheeler vehicles.

The Odisha Vigilance, led by four DSPs, four Inspectors, and supporting staff, carried out simultaneous house searches in Bhadrak and Balasore on Thursday following allegations that Mohanty had accumulated assets beyond his known sources of income.

In connection with the case, Balasore Vigilance PS has registered Case No. 6/2026 under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018 against Bijaya Kumar Mohanty.
