Bhubaneswar, Aug 28: The Odisha Vigilance officials have arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rajanikanta Das on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000.
The ASI, stationed at Kotagarh police station in Kandhamal district, was caught in the act on Tuesday.
According to the allegations, ASI Das demanded the bribe to resolve a case involving the complainant and his friends. The Vigilance team apprehended him while accepting the money at the Kali Temple in Kotagarh.
Following the arrest, the Berhampur Vigilance registered a case against ASI Das under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
Additionally, raids were conducted at two locations associated with the ASI. Senior Vigilance officials confirmed that the investigation into the matter is underway.
