Bhubaneswar, Oct 19: Vigilance sleuths have arrested Prasanna Kumar Pani, Junior Engineer (Technical Consultant) working in the office of Pallahara BEO for amassing properties disproportionate to hin known source of income.
Pani was found in possession of disproportionate assets including five buildings (three multi storeyed buildings and one flat in Bhubaneswar), 26 plots in prime areas of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Pipili, Nimapara, Jankia and Jatani, deposits over Rs 64.18 lakh, gold jewellery weighing around 832 grams and cash worth Rs.3.33 lakh which he could not account for satisfactorily.
“Pani has been placed under arrest and today he will be produced before Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar,” said an official.
A team of Vigilance officials led by six DSPs, six Inspectors and other staff have conducted simultaneous raids at nine places associated with Pani on the strength of search warrants issued by Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The searches are being conducted on the allegation of amassing disproportionate assets by Pani.
