Sambalpur, May 25: In an unfortunate incident, at least two youths were killed and two others sustained critical injuries in a freak road mishap in Burla area of Odisha's Sambalpur district last night.
The deceased have been identified as Subrat Sahu and Manish Yadav. On the other hand, Saurabh Gupta and Akash are currently undergoing treatment and are stated to be in critical condition.
As per reports, the mishap occurred near Ladukhai under Burla police limits in the district when the four youths were traveling from Sambalpur to their home in Godbhaga by car. As they arrived near Babadhaba, the driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, the car hit the divider on the National Highway and then crashed into a truck coming from the Bargarh side.
The crash was so strong that all four people in the car got stuck inside. Nearby locals quickly jumped to their rescue and pulled the injured passengers out of the mangled car. They were then immediately taken to VIMSAR in Burla for treatment.
Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital declared Subrat and Manish dead on arrival.
Upon getting the information, police reached the accident site and launched an investigation into the incident.
The cops also seized the bodies of the deceased youths and sent them for post-mortem.
