Bhubaneswar, Jul 8: In a major housing boost, the Odisha government is set to approve concrete houses for an additional 37 lakh families under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) in the coming months. This announcement was made by Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik today.
The Centre has officially approved the proposal, Naik confirmed. "Altogether, 37 lakh more families will be provided with concrete houses under the PMAY-G. The Centre has given its approval for this initiative," he stated.
Naik further elaborated on his recent discussions with the Union Minister regarding the allocation of houses under this central scheme during his visit to New Delhi. "The government aims to sanction these concrete houses by November this year. I have spoken with the concerned officials, and the scrutiny of around 4 lakh online applications is already underway. The review of offline applications will begin soon," he added.
The project is expected to significantly improve housing availability for rural families in Odisha.
