Bhubaneswar, June 21: The Odisha government is set to introduce a first-of-its-kind rice ATM in Bhubaneswar within a week, aiming to streamline the distribution of rice for Public Distribution System (PDS) card holders.
After a high-level meeting, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Krushna Chandra Patra announced that the ATM will initially be installed in Bhubaneswar, with plans to expand the facility to all districts.
"The ATM will allow beneficiaries to insert their cards and receive their monthly quota of rice," Patra explained.
The Minister also stated that the government will procure paddy from farmers at Rs 3100 per quintal starting from the next kharif season.
