Bhubaneswar, August 13: Odisha is set to receive four new National Highway projects worth Rs 15,000 crore.
This decision was made during a review meeting attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
In today’s review meeting in New Delhi, Union Minister Gadkari discussed with Chief Minister Majhi on future projects worth Rs 21,650 crore.
In this meeting, it was agreed to implement 4 new highway projects in Odisha from Bhubaneswar to Puri, Chandikhol to Barbil, Khurda to Nayagarh, and Kesinga to Junagarh at an estimated cost of Rs 15,000 crore.
Here are the details of the proposed projects:
Bhubaneswar – Puri (60 km): A 6-lane highway with a service road, estimated to cost Rs 1,800 crore.
Chandikhol – Barbil (2000 km): Estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crores, including a service road.
Khurda – Nayagarh NH-57 (54 km): A 4-lane highway with a service road in built-up areas, estimated to cost Rs 1,100 crores.
Kesinga – Junagarh NH-26 (46 km): A 4-lane highway, estimated to cost Rs 1,000 crores.
Additionally, Rs 2,500 crore has been sanctioned for the two-laning of the Koraput-Podamari project (National Highway-326) and Rs 500 crore has been disbursed this year under the Central Roads and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF)
These projects aim to improve connectivity and infrastructure in Odisha, with the state government ensuring cooperation in land acquisition and availability of construction materials.
