Odisha to experience heavy rainfall for 3 days due to Low Pressure in Bay of Bengal: IMD

Bhubaneswar, Sept 24: Light to moderate rainfall has occurred at most places over the districts of Odisha today with heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Bhadrak districts following the formation of a low pressure area in the Bay of Bengal.
The regional meteorological centre has predicted heavy rain fall for the state for the next three days.
Under the influence of cyclonic circulation over Central Bay of Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over Westcentral Bay of Bengal & adjoining Northwest Bay off north Andhra - south Odisha coasts, the India Meteorological Department said.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height, it added.
“The line of withdrawal of southwest monsoon now passes through Firozpur, Sirsa, Churu, Ajmer, Mount Abu, Deesa, Surendranagar, Junagarh. Southwest Monsoon has been active in Odisha,” the IMD said.
Thunderstorm with lightning and Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj,Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati during the next 24 hours, the IMD said.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Nuapada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagadaduring this period.
