Bhubaneswar, May 15: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls will begin in Odisha from May 30 as part of a nationwide exercise covering 16 states. State Chief Electoral Officer R. S. Gopalan announced the schedule during a press conference on Friday.

As per the schedule, preparation, training and printing work will continue from May 20 to May 29, while Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will carry out door-to-door verification from May 30 to June 28. The draft voter list will be published on July 5, and claims and objections can be filed till August 4. The final electoral roll will be published on September 6.

The state currently has around 3.34 crore voters, with 94.61 per cent mapping work already completed. At present, 27,723 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and 38,123 BLOs have been engaged in the exercise.

The CEO informed that Form-6 will be used for inclusion of new voters. The survey will be conducted through house-to-house visits and no documents will be required during the verification process.
