Boudh, Mar 5: A Sanskrit teacher at Sadar High School in Jogindrapur Panchayat, Kantamal area, Boudh district, was suspended following allegations of inappropriate conduct towards a Dalit student and their parents.
The District Education Officer took action based on a probe report. The incident occurred during Saraswati Puja on February 14, when the teacher, Anusuya Devi, allegedly threw away food prepared for the celebration after a Dalit student touched the containers.
This action led to tension among students and faculty. The student's parents filed a complaint, and despite attempts by the headmaster to resolve the issue, the accused teacher reportedly behaved disrespectfully towards the guardian.
The father of the student brought the matter to the notice of Ambedkar Dalit Samaj Vikas Parishad, a Dalit association, seeking justice. With their support, he approached the police.
Simultaneously, Sudhansu Danga, the Secretary of the District Pana-Ganda Vikas Parishad, brought the issue to the attention of the District Education Officer.
In response to the allegations, the District Education Officer (DEO), Gendera Kujur, instructed the Additional DEO, Ghanashyam Meher, and the Kantamal Block Education Officer, Sanoj Sethy, to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Following the investigation report submitted by the officials, the DEO took disciplinary action against the Sanskrit teacher for her misconduct.
