Bhubaneswar, Aug 11: Cancer cases are rising consistently in Odisha. The famous Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai is a much sought after cancer care and treatment destination for patients not only from Odisha but for many in the entire Indian subcontinent.
However, those seeking cancer treatment and care from Odisha, in future are likely to have a new Tata Memorial Centre in close vicinity. Because a Cancer Hospital & Education Centre by Tata Memorial Centre will be established in Jatani tehsil of Odisha’s Khordha district.
The Odisha Cabinet on Thursday approved the proposal of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department in this regard, sources said.
As per the Cabinet approval, the Odisha government would lease out 48.842 acres in Jatani tehsil for the hospital. The land would be leased out in favour of National Institute of Science Education & Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar on free of all charges basis for setting up the cancer hospital & education centre, sources added.
