Bhubaneswar, Aug. 5: Odisha has reaffirmed its ambition to emerge as India's "Energy Growth Engine" by fast-tracking its clean energy transition and industrial expansion, with a target of adding nearly 11 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

Addressing a major conference organised by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA), Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo said Odisha has already achieved power-surplus status and is well positioned to lead the country's energy transformation.

Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain also participated in the high-level event, representing the state's industrial leadership.

Highlighting the Prime Minister's Purvodaya vision for accelerating development in Eastern India, Singh Deo called for extending industrial incentives to the energy sector. He stressed the need to build a resilient and future-ready electricity network through smart grid technologies, digital substations, and AI-enabled asset management systems.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Odisha's investment pipeline of nearly ₹10 lakh crore is expected to generate sustained demand for advanced electrical equipment, transformers, and smart transmission infrastructure. With its strategic location in Eastern India and strong port connectivity, the state offers an ideal manufacturing and export hub for electrical equipment companies, enabling efficient access to Eastern, North-Eastern, and international markets.

Inviting global manufacturers, technology firms, and investors to partner with the state, Singh Deo urged them to "Manufacture in Odisha, Innovate in Odisha, and Grow with Odisha." He assured investors of a stable policy framework, transparent governance, and active support from both the Energy and Industries Departments. He said the state's vision is to create a modern, cyber-secure energy ecosystem that supports sustainable industrial growth while contributing to the goals of Viksit Odisha and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Industries Minister Swain said Odisha's strong industrial ecosystem, plug-and-play infrastructure, and investor-friendly policies make it an attractive destination for green manufacturing and high-tech electrical equipment production.

The conference was attended by several senior officials and industry leaders, including Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Energy Department Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev, Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited CMD Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Central Electricity Authority Chairperson Ghanshyam Prasad, IEEMA President Vikram Gandotra, Director General Charu Mathur, Eastern Region Chairman Utkarsh Bansal, Vice Chairman Parag Saraf, and other senior state officials.
