Bhubaneswar, Dec 30: A tableau from Odisha featuring Raghurajpur craft village with Sambalpuri folksong is likely to be part of the national level Republic Day Ceremony in New Delhi.
As per information, the tableau model designed by noted sculptor Kirti Kishore Maharana and painter Gajendra Sahu was sent to the selection panel which is likely to be one of the selected ones.
The model was reported to have been appreciated in the selection committee meeting which might pave the way of being accepted for this year’s Republic Day Ceremony.
Out of at least 20 tableaux sent for approval, the one from Odisha was reported to have been at the third place. However, the final decision on selection is yet to be taken, sources said.
Being informed of the development that the Odisha-based tableau is going to be included in the R-Day parade, Gajendra Sahu, chief architect of it said the Odisha model might be appreciated by the tens of thousands audience.
However, he said there would a meagre modification in the model by on January 4, in order to deck it more attractively.
If the tableau gets the expert committee’s nod, the traditional fine art- based canvas painting of Odisha’s Puri district and the folk culture of western Odisha will be a phenomenal on the Kartavya Path in Delhi, on January 26.
