Bhubaneswar, Jan 4: Attractive tableau from Odisha featuring the artifacts of Raghurajpur craft village embroidered with Sambalpuri folksong will be a part of the national level Republic Day Ceremony in New Delhi this year.
The news delighted the people of the Raghurajpur Art village and every Odia on Thursday after the Odisha Chief Secretary received a letter from the Ministry of Defence in this connection.
The letter read, the tableau of Odisha featuring the Raghurajpur Craft Village of the Puri district and the Women Empowerment movement of Odisha, has been finalized to participate here in this year’s national festival.
Sources said, the tableau model designed by noted sculptor Kirti Kishore Maharana and painter Gajendra Sahu was sent to the selection panel which was shortlisted to get the MOD’s selection committee approval.
The model was appreciated in the selection committee meeting which paved the way out of being accepted for this year’s Republic Day Ceremony.
Out of at least 20 tableaux sent for approval, the one from Odisha was at the third place.
Being informed of the development that the Odisha-based tableau will be demonstrated in the R-Day parade, Gajendra Sahu, chief architect of the cultural replica said, the Odisha model might be appreciated by the tens of thousands of audience on the occasion.
The traditional fine art- based canvas painting of Odisha’s Puri ,the thrifts of the Women SHGs, embedded with the folk culture of western Odisha will be more phenomenal on the Kartavya Path in Delhi, on theJanuary 26.
