Bhubaneswar: The host Odisha swimmers dominated the inaugural day of the Khelo India Junior Women’s Swimming Series 2024 Zone-4 Round-1 by winning seven gold medals out of 10 gold medal events held at Sambalpur on Saturday. While Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh won two and a gold respectively.
Swimmers from Bihar, Chhattisgarh , Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha states are participating in the two day long meet, which will conclude on Sunday.
Odisha girls Chinmayee Behera and Arpita Samal bagged a gold medal each in the (U-15) categories, while Dhanvi Bhaumik ( U-15) won double gold medals and Dibyanka Dibyajyoti Pradhan ( U-18) won three gold medals in their respective groups.
Earlier on the day Pradip Kumar Padhee , President of the Odisha State Swimming Association presided over the opening ceremony where Jayanarayan Mishra, M.L.A., Sambalpur was the Chief Guest who declared the Championship open.
