Sambalpur, October 10: Sambalpur has recorded strong public participation in the ongoing Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 campaign, with more than 1 lakh people joining over 500 cleanliness drives and awareness programmes across the Sambalpur city on Saturday. Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan led the drive from Laxmi Talkies Square to Gol Bazar in the city.
Alongside Pradhan, Sambalpur District Collector, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Superintendent of Police, Sambalpur Municipal Corporation Commissioner and members of various voluntary organisations also participated in the drive.
Nearly 500 cleanliness target units have been cleared as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva-2026 campaign under ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, jointly organised by the Sambalpur district administration and Sambalpur Municipal Corporation (SMC).
The cleanliness drive began at 630 AM.
Taking to ‘X’, Pradhan said, “Turning ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ into a people’s movement. Over 1 lakh volunteers joined cleanliness drives at 500+ locations across Sambalpur today under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.”

The primary objective of the campaign is to make cleanliness a daily habit and transform cleanliness into a mass movement and encourage active public participation in maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
“Let us carry this spirit forward and make cleanliness a daily habit. Together, let us build a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful Sambalpur,” urged the former Union Minister.
