Bhubaneswar, April 18: The upcoming assembly election in Odisha has certainly created suspense in the Raghunathpali constituency of Sundargarh district.
Subrat Tarai, a former minister and MLA, has an impressive track record. He won consecutively from the Raghunathpali constituency in the years 2009, 2014, and 2019 as a BJD candidate.
Despite this, the BJD has not yet confirmed whether party will field him again in the upcoming election or not.
There are rumors that Prafulla Sunyani, who recently left the Congress party and joined the BJD, might receive the party ticket for Raghunathpali.
Prafulla’s supporters are claiming that the BJD will indeed field him as its candidate in the ensuing election.
On the other hand, BJD district observer Pritikant Ghadai held a secret meeting with all aspirants for the party ticket. Interestingly, both Subrat Tarai and Prafulla Sunyani were absent from this meeting.
Pritikant Ghadai has reportedly submitted the final reports on candidate selection to the party high command.
The party high command is expected to make the final decision and announce the BJD candidate for the Raghunathpali assembly constituency on Friday.
The question is whether the BJD will repose faith in Subrat Tarai or opt for a new face remains a matter of anticipation and speculation.
