Odisha reveals squads for 51st National Basketball Championship
Officials from the Odisha Basketball Association have finalized the state squads for the upcoming 51st Sub-junior National Basketball Championship. Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh will host the tournament from September 27 to October 4, 2026. This selection represents a strong opportunity for young regional athletes to showcase their skills on a national platform.
Twenty-four talented players make up the official delegation, split equally into 12-member boys and girls teams. These selected youths will face off against top competitors from across India. Developing youth sports infrastructure in Odisha continues to produce competitive talents ready for high-level tournaments, helping the region build a solid foundation for future senior championships.
Representing the girls squad are Anita Munda, Jingyasha JavaServer Chhualsingh, Ashirya Pradhan, Lopamudra Paramanik, Arpita Priyadarsini Pradhan, Monalisha Majhi, Supriya Yadav, Alia Das, Sasmita Sasmal, Niharika Mallick, Shraddha Sree Patnaik, and Divyanka Nayak. Chiranjit Karan leads as head coach, supported by assistant coach Subhashree Sahoo and manager Babita Putel.
Competing in the boys division are Suvam Behera, Parth Singh Rathore, Rudra Senapati, Aryan Behera, Purandra Gamango, Shah Faisal, Atif Khan, Sumiran Mahananda, Ronak Kumar Choudhary, Yuvraj Patnaik, Ujjwal Maharana, and Mohammad Sahid. Prasanna Kumar Nayak takes charge as coach, alongside assistant coach Mohan Sethi and manager Gyanedu Samanta.
Association president Gyanaranjan Parida and secretary Ashok Sahu formally congratulated the chosen athletes. Association members extended their best wishes to the management staff and players ahead of their departure to Andhra Pradesh.
