Bhubaneswar, April 24: The political landscape in Jatani assembly segment, which falls under the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency, has become quite intriguing. Family members are actively participating in the election campaigns.

A six-time Congress MLA from Jatani, Suresh Routray, popularly known as Sura Routray was recently expelled from the Congress party for campaigning for his son, Manmath Routray, who is the BJD candidate from the Bhubaneswar parliamentary constituency. Despite this setback, Sura Routray continues to campaign fervently for his son, seeking votes on his behalf.

On the other hand, Bighnesh Balabantray, the son of BJD candidate Bibhuti Balabantray, is actively involved in campaigning for his father in the Jatani. He, along with party workers are going door-to-door to seek blessings for his father in the upcoming election.

Bibhuti Balabantray, Khurdha BJD President and former MLA of Jatani, is the BJD’s candidate this time. With a strong base in this segment, he previously defeated Congress veteran Sura Routray by a significant margin in the 2009 election. His substantial following and experience has positioned him well in the current election.
