Bhubaneswar, July 30:The Odisha government on Thursday appointed IAS officer Somesh Kumar Upadhyay as the new Collector and District Magistrate of Bhadrak district.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration and Public Grievance Department, Upadhyay, a 2017-batch IAS officer currently serving as Director of Textiles and Handloom, Odisha, will assume charge after the retirement of the incumbent Collector, Dilip Routrai, on July 31.

The notification also stated that the state government has appointed Upadhyay as the District Magistrate of Bhadrak under Section 14(1) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023.

Routrai, a 2011-batch Odisha State Civil Service (SCS) officer, is scheduled to retire from government service on July 31.Bottom of Form
